About the scholarship
Australia Awards Scholarships are prestigious international scholarships funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
These awards support individuals from eligible countries to undertake full-time TAFE, undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian institutions. Swinburne has been proudly involved in the Australia Awards scholarship program for over 20 years.
Eligibility and selection criteria
Available to students enrolled in vocational education (VE), undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
In addition to country-specific eligibility requirements, applicants must meet general eligibility requirements including age and citizenship requirements, program and study area criteria, and all general entry and English requirements set forth by the University for the selection destination degree. Full eligibility details can be found in the Australia Awards Scholarship Handbook.
Applicants who wish to join the Australia Awards Scholarship program will need to sign a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia declaring that they will comply with the conditions of the scholarship.
Upon completion of studies, awardees are required to return to their home country for at least 2 years (unless alternative arrangements approved by DFAT for a short-term visit ie. professional opportunities). Failure to do so will result in the awardee incurring a debt for the total accrued cost of their scholarship. View scholarships conditions on the DFAT Australia Awards website for further information.
Priority areas of study are listed under each country's profile on the Australia Awards website. Before selecting your course, you should review your country's priority sectors to ensure your chosen Swinburne course aligns.
