Judith Kinnear Student Travel Scholarship 2027

The Judith Kinnear Student Travel Scholarship supports a postgraduate student in a Masters degree (by Research) or Doctorate degree (PhD) within Swinburne’s School of Engineering or School of Science, Computing and Emerging Technologies.

Named after Dr Judith Kinnear, a Swinburne alum who became the first woman to lead a New Zealand university, the scholarship honors her pioneering career in higher education.

Applicants must be undertaking travel in the year the scholarship is awarded.

Applicants must be:

• a continuing second year and above Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2027
• enrolled full-time in a Masters (by Research) or PhD in the School of Science, Computing and Emerging Technologies or School of Engineering.

Applicants must:

• demonstrate that they have limited or no access to funding for their travel (i.e. without the funding, they will not be able to undertake the travel)
• provide evidence of travel related to academic and professional development, such as attending conferences, visiting research institutes, or meeting potential business or research collaborators.

Personal statement

Submit a personal statement of up to 500 words addressing: 

• how attending a 'significant career-impacting international event' will benefit them professionally and impact their career.

Breakdown of costs

Provide an estimated breakdown of costs (e.g. conference registration, flights and accommodation).
