Rosemary Simpson Scholarship

The Rosemary Simpson Scholarship, established by the Jolimont Foundation, supports students from rural and regional areas to undertake and complete an undergraduate degree.

It aims to help recipients achieve their full potential by reducing the need to work while studying.

Applicants must:

• be an Australian citizen
• have relocated from a rural or regional area to study at Swinburne.

Preference will be given to Year 12 school leavers. Please refer to the Australian Statistical Geographical Classification – Remoteness Area to determine the geographic classification.

Applicants must be:

• a commencing first year or continuing second year Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2027
• enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree
• studying on campus.

Applicants will be assessed based on their educational disadvantage.

Personal statement

Submit a personal statement of up to 500 words or a short 2 minute video addressing:

• your leadership qualities 
• and/or community participation.

Please upload your video to an accessible media source and provide the link in a Word or PDF document. Ensure the video is downloadable and accessible to anyone with the link.

Relocation

Provide evidence of having relocated from a rural and regional area in order to study at Swinburne.

Educational disadvantage

Provide evidence of educational disadvantage, which may fall under the categories listed below. To assist you, we’ve included a link to the VTAC website for further guidance on preparing your evidence.

• personal information and location
• financial hardship
• living with a disability or medical condition
• difficult family and life circumstances.

Written reference

Provide a written reference from a teacher, community leader or employer. Note: referees cannot be a family member or friend.
