Sir Reginald Ansett Scholarship for Aviation 2027

The Sir Reginald Ansett Scholarship for Aviation helps students pursue their passion for an aviation career by reducing financial pressures.

Offered through the Sir Reginald Ansett Trust, it honours Sir Reginald Ansett KBE (1909–1981), a pioneering Australian aviator and founder of Ansett Airways. Reginald studied at Swinburne in the 1920s (then Swinburne Technical College) before building one of Australia’s leading airlines, reflecting his lifelong commitment to opportunity and innovation.

Applicants must: 

• be an Australian citizen.

Applicants must: 

• have completed Year 12 in 2026 (or in 2025 and taken a gap year in 2026)
• be a commencing first year Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2027
• be enrolled full-time in an eligible single or double degree course (Bachelor of Aviation or Bachelor of Aviation Management).

Applications will be assessed based on:

• experience of an educational disadvantage
• achievement of a minimum ATAR of 85.00.

Personal statement

Submit a personal statement of up to 500 words addressing:

• your passion for a career in aviation.

ATAR certificate

Provide your ATAR certificate as evidence (criteria waived for students in Early Entry Program).

Note: For current Year 12 students, you don’t need to wait until you have received your ATAR to apply. Once you have received your ATAR, please send through a copy of your ATAR certificate to scholarship@swinburne.edu.au to complete your application.

Educational disadvantage

Provide evidence of educational disadvantage, which may fall under the categories listed below. To assist you, we’ve included a link to the VTAC website for further guidance on preparing your evidence:

• difficult family and life circumstances.

Written reference

Provide a written reference from a teacher, community leader, or employer. Note: referees cannot be a family member or friend.
