Indigenous Relocation Scholarship (VET) 2026

The Indigenous Relocation Scholarship (VET) supports eligible Indigenous students enrolled to commence a diploma (including UniLink) or advanced diploma. This scholarship aims to assist students with relocation and accommodation costs to begin their course with Swinburne.

Scholarships will be awarded a one-off payment valued at $2,500.

Applicant must:

• be an Australian citizen
• be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.

Applicants must:

• be a commencing first year Swinburne student in 2026
• be enrolled full-time in any Swinburne diploma (including UniLink) or advanced diploma.

Applications will be assessed based on:

• financial hardship
• personal hardship
• Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander located in a regional, rural or remote area.

Also, applicants are required to schedule an appointment and connect with an Indigenous Student Advisor through the Moondani Toombadool Centre (MTC) at the commencement of your studies to explore your learning needs.. To book a time please email indigenousstudents@swinburne.edu.au

Personal statement

Submit a personal statement of up to 500 words addressing:

• your aspirations for this course
• your current financial and/or personal hardship circumstance and the impact this scholarship will provide
• where you are locating from to commence study with Swinburne.

Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Heritage

Provide evidence to confirm you are of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage by submitting:

• a Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Heritage certificate (COA), or 
• a certified Statutory Declaration declaring that the individual applying for the scholarship is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and/or is accepted as such by the community in which you live, or formerly lived.

Written Reference 

• provide 1 written references from a teacher, community leader or employer. Note: referees cannot be a family member or friend.

Appointment

• provide evidence they have connected (or have an appintment booked) with an Indigenous Student Advisor through the Moondani Toombadool Centre (MTC).
