About the scholarship

Summary

The Moondani Vocational Centre of Excellence (MVCE) Career Development Scholarship is designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals seeking to transition into new career pathways or enhance their professional skills through Vocational Education and Training (VET).

This scholarship aims to remove financial barriers for students enrolling in VET programs that are not covered under the Free TAFE scheme or other government funding initiatives.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

Applicant must:

  • be an Australian citizen
  • be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
Enrolment criteria

Applicant must be:

  • a commencing first year Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2027
  • enrolled in any Swinburne vocational education (Certificate IV and below, Diploma and Advanced Diploma, UniLink Diploma) course
  • enrolled full-time or part-time.
Selection criteria

Applications will be considered from individuals seeking to transition into new career pathways or enhance their professional skills through Vocational Education and Training (VET).

Supporting documentation

Personal statement

Submit a personal statement of up to 500 words or a short 2 minute video addressing:

  •  your career aspirations
  • how the scholarship will support your journey.

Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Heritage

Provide evidence to confirm you are of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage by submitting:

  • a Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Heritage certificate (COA), or 
  • a certified Statutory Declaration declaring that the individual applying for the scholarship is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and/or is accepted as such by the community in which you live, or formerly lived.

Enrolment

Provide confirmation of enrolment or intent to enrol in an eligible Swinburne VET course.
