Malcolm Styles Local Government Scholarship 2026

Malcolm Styles is a Swinburne engineering graduate who has forged a successful career in local government engineering. The Malcolm Styles Local Government Scholarship aims to support a regional or rural-based (preferably) engineering student studying in a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Professional) with an interest in local government.

Applicants must:

• be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent resident with humanitarian visa, or a New Zealand citizen
• have relocated from a rural or regional area in order to undertake tertiary study.

Applicants must be:

• a commencing first year Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2026
  
• enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Professional).

Applications will be assessed based on relocation from a rural or regional area, leadership qualities and community involvement.

This scholarship is related to the following study areas:

Personal statement

Submit a personal statement of up to 500 words addressing your interest in:

• engineering
• local government.

Relocation

Provide evidence of relocation from a rural or regional area in order to undertake tertiary study.

Community service

Provide evidence of leadership qualities and/or evidence of extra-curricular service to community (reference letter).
