Course description
The Career Success Program (CSP) focuses on career planning and employment readiness through personalised career coaching sessions and workshops that include opportunities to meet with employers, learn career skills and prepare for your future.
Career Success Program (CSP)
The Career Success Program is a key feature of the professional master degree.
The program focuses on career planning and employment readiness through a combination of career coaching, networking opportunities and professional development workshops. The program also prepares students for the Professional Masters Industry Project.
Personalised career coaching
As a professional master degree student, you will receive personalised career coaching under the guidance of a career management specialist.
You will also be shown how to refine your job applications and interview techniques to help you stand out from other job-seekers.
Employer networking
The Career Success Program includes networking events the provide you with an in-depth understanding of the Australian job market, the opportunity to build connections with prospective employers and the chance to explore the different avenues that your career could take.
Employability skills development
A key component of the program is developing skills that will enhance your employability. This includes learning professional communication, presentation and networking skills; developing a personal brand; and learning job search strategies.
Industry project
The professional master industry projects are designed to provide you with meaningful professional experience. Selected students will be partnered with Australian and global employers (who operate in Melbourne) to work on a project that will add substantial experience to their CV.
Units of study
The Career Success Program comprises study that students complete throughout the normal duration of the professional master degree. Students are also encouraged to attend two personalised career coaching sessions during the course.

International students in Australia who hold student visas are required to study full-time and on campus. Courses that are taught entirely online are only available to international students studying outside Australia or those in Australia who are not on a student visa. Online courses are not available to international students in Australia who hold a student visa.
Course structure
To qualify for the Master of Professional Engineering, students must complete 200 credit points as follows:
- 9 core units (137.5 credit points)
- 4 specialisation units (from one specialisation) (50 credit points)
- 1 elective unit (chosen from any other specialisation) (12.5 credit points)
Students are also required to undertake the Career Success Program (CSP)

Students must complete the compulsory Professional Skills Development unit - 0cp
Participation in CSP units A-B-C is a Requisite (Assumed Knowledge) to the Professional Masters Industry Project unit EAT80002.

Entry requirements
A prerequisite for many courses, the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) can now be done on campus in Hawthorn at Room 132, Building TD. Book now or call +61 3 9214 3584 for more information.
- A Bachelor of Engineering degree, or
- A Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree, or
- A Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Engineering degree following on from a Bachelor of Engineering degree, or
- A qualification deemed to be equivalent to any of the above.
English language requirements
Satisfactory completion of one of the following:
- IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
- Swinburne’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 70%, all skills 65%
- Or equivalent measures available at English language requirements.
