Disability, medical, neurological and mental health conditions

Are you aware of any disabilities, medical, neurological or mental health conditions that may affect your ability to successfully undertake a placement?

If yes, and if you have not already done so, please register with AccessAbility Services so they can prepare an Education Access Plan for you that will recommend reasonable adjustments to support your studies. This team will also work with you through the Professional Placements team in negotiating reasonable adjustments in the workplace if necessary.

Read more about AccessAbility Services for students with a disability, medical, neurological or mental health condition and those with primary carer responsibilities.

Note: Swinburne reserves the right to ensure that the reasonable workplace requirements of any placement, industry partner or organisation are met. It is in your interests to present an Education Access Plan to ensure that the provider is aware of the reasonable adjustments they can make to assist your participation in a placement.

The terms of your placement can be altered or you can be withdrawn from a placement if the workplace is unable to make sufficient adjustment to meet your needs. You can have the terms of your placement altered or be withdrawn from a placement if the workplace is unable to meet expectations.

    Privacy and health records

If you obtain a placement, it is recommended you agree to Swinburne (through Professional Placements) providing your Education Access Plan to the industry partner or organisation for the purposes of facilitating your placement and informing any reasonable adjustments need to assist your participation in the Placement.

Swinburne acknowledges and respects your privacy. We collect, store, use, update, disclose and dispose of all personal information in accordance with the Information Privacy Act (Vic.) 2000, the Health Records Act (Vic.) 2001 and Swinburne's Privacy Policy.
