Submit your Unique Student Identifier

What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI)?

A USI (Unique Student Identifier) is a reference number made up of 10 numbers and letters and it's yours for life.

From 1 January 2023, all students (including international students studying in Australia) who are studying Vocational Education and Training (VET) or Higher Education courses, must have a USI to graduate and receive their award.

You will not able to access Commonwealth or State financial assistance or receive your VET statement of attainment without a verified USI. You must provide your USI when you enrol in your course or by the first census date.

International students & New Zealand citizens

When you arrive in Australia for your study, you must get a USI. To create your USI, you must be in Australia with an Australian address.

Create and Submit your USI

If you haven't got a USI yet, it's easy (and quick) to create one. Then you'll need to send it to us.

After you submit, we need to take steps to verify this USI - so please makes sure that your USI details match your enrolment details at Swinburne University (ie personal details including name, DOB and gender). Please note that as sanction may be applied to your account if your USI is invalid.

Fields marked with Mandatory are mandatory

Personal details

Please ensure your name is entered in the same format that is recorded with Swinburne, for example, if your middle name is listed in the first name field or the other name field. A mismatch of this nature will result in a invalid USI submission.
