Our vision is to enhance the social and business outcomes of the sport, leisure and active recreation industries through social, technological and industry innovation.
Our mission is to integrate research, learning and engagement and contribute to social and business innovation in the sport, leisure and active recreation industries by producing high-quality, industry-shaping research. This includes the study of sport as a tool for social development and the role of sport within local, national and international policy contexts.

Sport Experience and Design
Our work explores how organisations can create better sport experiences through innovation, branding and customer engagement. We help partners strengthen participation, loyalty and digital experiences by advancing knowledge in areas such as sponsorship, fan engagement and sport consumption.
Sport Inclusion, Impact and Community
Our work examines how sport can drive positive social and community outcomes by promoting safe, equitable and inclusive participation. Working with governments and industry partners, we evaluate programs, inform policy and explore sport's role in creating stronger communities.
Sport Leadership, Organisations and Sustainability
Our work explores how sport organisations can build effective leadership, embrace innovation and adapt to change. We examine strategy, culture and governance to support stronger organisations, inform policy and create a more sustainable future for sport.
Study with us
Undergraduate
Study Sports Management at Swinburne through the Bachelor of Business as a major or minor, with flexible on-campus and online options. Developed by the Sport Innovation Research Group, the program combines industry-informed learning, unique units in emerging areas of sport business, and Work Integrated Learning opportunities including placements, internships and industry projects.
Graduate research
