Honours Thesis B
Overview
This unit develops conceptual and critical thinking, empirical research skills, and written and oral communication skills. Students will complete and write up the research project they commenced in Honours Thesis A. As this is the final unit in the course, lectures will provide students with in-depth knowledge of selected topics that are relevant in contemporary psychology that they can integrate into community and work situations. An academic with specialised knowledge in the area will cover each topic at an advanced level.

Unit learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Critique and synthesise advanced theory and empirical research from a variety of areas in contemporary psychology
- Apply advanced knowledge of research principles and methods to research problems
- Independently conduct psychological research; obtain empirical data, analyse these data and write up the findings
- Communicate scientific ideas and research findings to informed professional audiences using a variety of modes

Content
- Completion of an original research project under academic supervision.
- Presentation of research project findings
- Preparation of a report in the format of a peer-reviewed scientific journal article.
- Lecture topics areas may include applied social psychology, child and adolescent psychology, clinical or counselling psychology, forensic psychology, health psychology, indigenous psychology, education/school psychology, organisational psychology, neuroscience and neuropsychology (note: may change yearly depending on current contemporary issues)
