Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Critically consolidate research evidence that supports the comprehensive management of complex neurological, cardiorespiratory and orthopaedic/musculoskeletal disorders
- Safely examine and manage complex health presentations across physiotherapy disciplines
- Apply advanced clinical reasoning with regard to diagnosis, management and evaluation of outcome of complex presentations across physiotherapy disciplines
- Effectively collaborate with patients and clients to develop short- and long-term management goals for best practice physiotherapy management
- Efficiently manage patient caseloads in line with graduate entry to physiotherapy practice

Content
- Recognition of clinical presentations and physical manifestations in common neurological, orthopaedic/musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, men’s/women’s health and paediatric conditions
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Systematic and evidence-informed approaches to the subjective and physical assessment of neurological, cardiorespiratory, orthopaedic/musculoskeletal, men’s/women’s health and paediatric conditions
- Short- and long-term goal setting
- Evidence-based research for the differential diagnosis and management of common neurological, cardiorespiratory and orthopaedic/musculoskeletal conditions
- Radiological features and findings of common neurological, cardiorespiratory, orthopaedic/musculoskeletal, men’s/women’s health and paediatric conditions
- Therapeutic exercise prescription and their progression
*Minimum requirement to pass this unit are 160 hours of mandatory supervised clinical placement.Â
