Overview

Procurement involves sourcing, ordering and purchasing supplies and efficient procurement management is essential for any professionally run organisation. The purchasing decision and acquisition of goods and services can require complex negotiations and may involve establishing, maintaining as well as terminating relationships with suppliers and vendors locally, nationally and globally. In this unit students will explore various facets of the procurement process, and consider how procurement management impacts on the organisation both financially and operationally.

  • Articulate and defend a purchasing decision in a given business context
  • Analyse how purchasing decisions influence the supply chain management process in a range of complex situations
  • Research and make judgements about issues that influence sourcing decisions in given environments
  • Work collaboratively in teams to communicate with stakeholders and to solve complex procurement problems
