General Information
Overview
The Master of Professional Accounting equips students with advanced conceptual and applied skills needed by professional accountants to thrive in a dynamic, global business environment. It prepares graduates to become proficient, tech-savvy accountants with a strong sense of ethics and social responsibility. Designed with industry input, the program includes units on Financial Crime, AI, Blockchain, and Visualization to meet market demands. Accredited by professional accounting bodies, the course offers students associate membership to CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
Study structure
Successful completion of the Master of Professional Accounting requires students to complete units of study to the value of 200 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.
Full-time study: 100 credit points/eight standard units of study per year
Part-time study: 50 credit points/four standard units of study per year
One credit point is equivalent to one hour of study per week per semester (including contact hours and private study)

Aims and objectives

Graduates will have specialised knowledge and research skills in accounting and related areas of business and be suitable for a variety of accounting related roles in the private and public sector including government administration, financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, auditing, teaching, finance, treasury, information systems, banking, superannuation, manufacturing, consulting or business advisory services..
Professional recognition
The Master of Professional Accounting is professionally accredited through CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CAANZ), Graduates are therefore eligible to apply for membership of CPA Australia (CPA), Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CAANZ), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA)
The Master is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. The alumni of AACSB accredited business schools are among the world’s most influential leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs impacting business, government, and non-profit sectors. Only the top six per cent of business schools worldwide are AACSB accredited.
Maximum Academic Credit
The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Master of Professional Accounting is 100 credit points (normally eight units).
