Overview

The aim of this unit of study is to provide students with the opportunity to apply the statistical skills acquired throughout their course in undertaking a research project, also assisting students to develop consulting skills for dealing with clients who ask for statistical help. They will gain an understanding of the ethical issues involved in conducting human research and the steps necessary to obtain ethical approval.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Create an appropriate literature review to address the research question
  • Choose between different data collection strategies and research designs in a specific research/consulting context
  • Design a research proposal in a particular context
  • Critically evaluate research process and data synthesis
  • Formulate a startegy for the dissemination of research outcomes
