Professor Sally McArthur

Director of the Manufacturing Futures Research Institute

Professor Sally McArthur is one of Australia's leading biomedical engineers. Sally was the founding Director of the Swinburne Innovation Precinct, she is Victorian Regional Director of the National Medical Device Partnering Program (MDPP) and the leader of the Biointerface Engineering Hub of the Australian National Fabrication Facilities Victoria.

To date, she has obtained over $22 million in funding from research councils, industry, and government within the UK and Australia. Sally's career has always been a balance between fundamental materials and surface engineering and the application of this knowledge to solve problems and develop new products that operate in biological environments.

As Director of the Manufacturing Futures Research Institute, Sally will focus on research-led innovation and the translation of fundamental and applied research into industrial applications. This will involve significant work in supporting the development of new, commercially focused enterprises as well as driving the PhD program at Swinburne. Looking forward, Sally aims to widen the reach of the Manufacturing Futures Research Institiute across the full breadth of manufacturing sectors including health, food, and renewable energies.
