Swinburne recognised in top 300 of universities globally for seventh consecutive year

Swinburne University of Technology has been ranked in the top 300 of universities in ShanghaiRanking’s Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) for the seventh consecutive year, maintaining our strong position among the top global institutions.   

This result demonstrates Swinburne’s sustained growth and performance, particularly in the increase of highly cited researchers. Our rank nationally also remained competitive in the top 9-12 universities in Australia.

Swinburne’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Professor Karen Hapgood says the result is a testament to the sustained excellence of our researchers.

"As a relatively small and young university, Swinburne consistently demonstrates our strong research performance and quality on a global scale," Professor Hapgood says.

"We are proud of our unique DNA as a multisector institution. Having been ranked in the top 201-300 every year since 2020 is another reason to be filled with pride.

“While rankings are just one indicator of success, this result is an important recognition of Swinburne’s continued strong performance and impact."

The ARWU ranks over 2,500 universities and shares the top 1,000. Using six criteria including highly cited researchers and research publications in leading journals, ARWU is a respected global benchmark for assessing university performance.
