This unit of study aims to develop within the student an understanding of the scientific research method, practical research skills, and practical design and development skills in a research environment, through an individual research project conducted during summer semester.

Hurdle

As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass a unit and meet all ULOs to a minimum standard, an undergraduate student must have achieved:

An aggregate mark for the unit of 50% or more.

Content

Students will undertake a substantial project, usually based within a research group in the university or external industrial research establishment. Projects are expected to involve a substantial research component, relevant to the discipline area of the placement.
