This unit prepares students to work within the creative industries as a freelancer or contract worker. Learning activities will develop students’ understanding of employment opportunities, working conditions, professional conduct and the skills needed to establish a career working in the ‘gig-economy’. This unit includes a mandatory self-sourced work experience between 60-80 hours. Students must have secured an appropriate work experience and academic supervisor by the census date. Examples of appropriate work experiences include but are not limited to the creation of an animated digital billboard or brand identity, filmed client testimonials, production of a music video, podcast episode, or simplified gamification of a business idea.
