Overview

This unit develops students’ design skills and creativity working on abstract and/or real architecture projects. This unit encourages students to research, explore and experiment with different design techniques and tools using a range of visual communication and design techniques. This studio uses a philosophical and a research approach in order to explore different environmental, sustainable, cultural and social interior architectural issues relevant to an interior architecture project.

Unit learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  1. Analyse environmental, cultural and social issues relevant to interior architectural issues
  2. Represent how a person may experience an interior space in response to key sensorial qualities
  3. Evaluate the living conditions of different cultures as they relate to interior architectural and sustainable objectives relevant to an interior design project
  4. Create a successful interior architectural project that reflects conceptual design thinking
  5. Apply key qualities of space and design tools within the design project through designing, sketching, model-making and graphic composition
  6. Justify the key design ideas that are developed within the project both visually and verbally
