This unit aims to develop students’ skills for the integrated management of the whole construction project from planning, estimating, tendering, contracting, and achieving performance objectives, such as costs, schedule, quality, safety, and environmental sustainability.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Explain the principles of tendering and evaluate contractor proposals using structured criteria (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, K5, K6, S1, S2, S4)
  • Apply resource loading, cost aggregation, and cash flow forecasting techniques for cost planning purposes
  • Develop integrated project schedules and cost plans using software tools (A1, A2, A3, A4)
  • Prepare and analyse construction budgets, including revenue forecasts and margin analysis
  • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques to monitor and evaluate project performance
  • Evaluate the financial impact of project changes and report cost overruns effectively
  • Communicate project performance using KPIs, dashboards, and stakeholder reports
