Overview

The Unit aims to equip the students with the knowledge and hands-on skills of undertaking a research project that addresses industry issues and public concerns and implementing the research plan formulated resulting in a quality draft of certain elements constituting to the final thesis. These elements include Introduction (including Literature Review where appropriate) and methodology. Successful completion of this unit will enable the students to continue with AVA40003 in semester 2.

Unit learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  1. Articulate the research aim, objectives and research questions properly and effectively in both oral and written format
  2. Present a convincing Introduction leading to the description of the research questions
  3. Present a critical literature review
  4. Prepare and submit ethics application, where appropriate
  5. Spell out clearly research methodologies

Hurdle

As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass a unit and meet all ULOs to a minimum standard, an undergraduate student must have achieved:

an aggregate mark for the unit of 50% or more.

Content

There are no classroom-based lectures for this Unit. It is the writing time for the student to accomplish the first part of the final thesis, which consists of “Introduction and/or Literature review, and Methodology. If ethics clearance is required, a copy of Ethics Application is required to be included in the submission at the end of this semester.
