Overview
Students will develop a broad understanding of medium scale projects, design methods, and appropriate techniques of communication via 2D representation via drafting methods and 3D modelling. Students will apply knowledge of structures and sustainability along with an ability to display design intentions and verbalise outcomes. There will be a general understanding of the broad benchmarks of architectural history and theories of colour and design and planning data.

Unit learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Research the making of a project brief leading to a design outcome
- Apply basic knowledge of materials, forms, and technology in the design context
- Demonstrate simple construction knowledge related to the 3D designs
- Demonstrate the basic principles of sustainable design
- Apply OH+S requirements to safe workshop operations
- Communicate the design using a set of modelling and graphic techniques
- Verbalise their design outcomes
