Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Analyse 4 bar mechanisms and machine components and vibration system
  • Apply relevant standards and codes of practice in the design of four bar mechanisms and machine components as well as vibration system mainly linear one
  • Use linkage and dynacam packages to determine force and moments in the linkage, cam gear, machine, and the surface profile of Cam
  • Safely execute experiments, analyse and interpret results and errors, and formulate conclusions as individual or part of a team
  • Generate high quality reports
  • Develop the expertise to handle a complex real life problem by completing an assignment

Hurdle

As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass a unit and meet all ULOs to a minimum standard, an undergraduate student must have achieved:

(i) an aggregate mark of 50% or more, and(ii) at least 40% in the final exam.Students who do not successfully achieve hurdle requirement (ii) will receive a maximum of 45% as the total mark for the unit.
