Overview

This Unit investigates and critically reviews methods and techniques that are used in the development, pre-production and production of film and television projects. It aims to further develop a sophisticated understanding of the pre-production process. The Unit will explore the key roles in development, pre-production and production of industry standard work. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate on group projects focusing on an area of specialization within the film and television industries.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Prepare a Production Bible and final pitch for a major project, applying appropriate industry standard formatting to documents, budgets, drafts and director’s statements
  • Apply relevant knowledge and skills of an area of specialization in the development and pre-production of the major project
  • Evaluate an aesthetic approach that takes into account individual specializations as related to film and video production
  • Develop proposals and concepts for self-promotion for both professional engagement and the promotion of film based projects
  • Access the impact of the production within a social and environmental context
