Overview

In this unit, pre-service teachers will explore and evaluate learning experiences designed and implemented through the use of integrated studies and interdisciplinary learning design. Pre-service teachers will investigate curriculum and forms of pedagogy to gain an understanding of methods and practices of teaching and learning through integration and interdisciplinary practice. This unit draws on past, current and future practice of subject integration.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Present an analysis of a range of integrated curriculum approaches past and present
  • Evaluate theories and approaches of integrated learning
  • Plan and evaluate integrated learning experience for a range of learners by synthesising elements of different curriculum areas to create authentic learning experiences
  • Evaluate learning experiences that support the teaching of Cross curricula perspectives and General Capabilities with reference to the relevant National and/or State or Territory curriculum
