Overview

This unit develops professional skills in relation to the practice of interior architecture with a particular emphasis on marketing and entrepreneurship. Specifically, the unit develops students' understanding of business identity issues as they relate to interior architecture, professional communication – both verbal and written – and portfolio preparation and presentation skills.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Define a business identity for an interior architectural practice including mode-of-practice strategic planning and competitor analysis
  • Compose and deliver professional written, visual and verbal presentations appropriate to different stakeholder expectations and audiences
  • Design and produce a professional portfolio based on an understanding of business identity and audience expectations
  • Evaluate new and emerging professional issues within interior architectural practice
