This unit aims to explore with students approaching technologies and operational concepts which are likely to transform the nature of aviation operations. Students will be prepared to enter the workplace with advanced knowledge which allows them to actively participate in shaping and protecting the aviation industry’s future and its contribution to our global society

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Identify the key technological or operational concepts which are likely to impact aviation in the near and distant future
  • Undertake effective desktop research to understand the environmental, operational, procedural, financial, safety and human factors implications of new aviation technologies and operational concepts
  • Analyse the potential risks of new technological and operational concepts and propose effective risk mitigation strategies
  • Practise effectively in a team to develop and deliver a business case for the introduction of a new aviation technology or operational concept
