Aims and objectives
This unit of study aims to provide you with an introduction and overview of the principles & concepts related to the use of satellites and data produced and an overview of the operational risk inherent for Earth's orbital environment.
Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO)
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate comprehension of theoretical concepts of both modules chosen
2. Demonstrate basic knowledge of the practical applications of the theoretical concepts outlined in chosen modules
3. Describe current practices for space operations outlined in modules
4. Appraise current practices for space operations and provide solutions for real-world issues for chosen modules

Content
This unit provides an introduction and overview of Satellite applications used for Global Positioning Systems, Graphical Information Systems, Remote observation and communications. Topics covered in this unit include methods for production and use of satellite data, socio-economic aspects of space applications, risk issues related to Space Debris, situational awareness and the space environment.
