Aims and objectives

In this unit, students will learn how to read, write and research a wide range of writing styles typical to those met in the course of their work and/or life. Students will gain insight into different forms of professional writing, have access to professionals speaking about their particular form of professional writing, develop understanding of the relationship between professional writing style and target audience, and obtain skills in writing for different professional purposes.
 
Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO) 
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
 
1. Identify and critically evaluate a range of review-based and popular writing styles and forms appropriate to the field of creative, professional and industry-based writing
2. Demonstrate practical skills in researching for and composing styles appropriate to their chosen writing project
3. Conceptualize, methodologies, collate data, contextualize, and produce a writing project demonstrating an understanding of target audience and industry or professional publication requirements.
