Professional Skills Development
Overview
This unit aims to introduce students to concepts of professional skills and to raise their awareness of employability skills for professional engineering in the future world of work. The unit will contribute to the development of students’ employability skills and exposure to networking and building industry connections.

- Identify the breadth of employability skills required for an engineering professional in the Australian context
- Start developing their professional profile or personal branding
- Plan and communicate professional self and career
- Demonstrate professional approach to career development in engineering
- Describe strategies to navigate the world of work

Hurdle
As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass a unit and meet all ULOs to a minimum standard, an undergraduate student must have achieved:
a) undertake and complete all activities within the portfolio assessment ii) provide evidence of completion of each specified activity
Content
Students will undertake self-guided individual learning activities using online tools, and participate in introductory seminars, workshops or industry-related events that will assist them with:
- Identifying their employability skills as an engineering professional in the Australian context
- Developing their professional network or industry connections
- Developing a digital presence
- Understanding professional workplace cultures and the future world of work
