Aims and objectives
To build the knowledge and skills required to design, configure and manage a single domain network
Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO)
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
1. Apply the OSI model and the TCP/IP model in networking
2. Explain IP networking protocol, routing and transition to IPv6
3. Plan an IP addressing strategy and automated configuration with DHCP
4. Design, install and maintain secure Windows systems
5. Perform user and domain resource management
6. Monitor system security quality, plan risk management and disaster recovery strategies

Hurdle
As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass the unit and meet all Unit Learning Outcomes to a minimum standard, a student must achieve:
(i) An aggregate mark of 50% or more, and
(ii) At least 40% in the final exam, and
(iii) A Pass grade for the Skills Exam.
The criteria for passing the Skills Exam is available in the Unit Outline. Students who do not successfully achieve hurdle requirements (ii) and (iii) will receive a maximum of 45% as the total mark for the unit.
