Prerequisites
Admission to MA-DIET Master of DieteticsAims and objectives
This unit will provide students with leadership and business skills critical for health professionals, particularly for those looking to move into business or private practice. It will also explore entrepreneurship in the health space and support students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset that incorporates creativity, innovation, diagnostic and critical abilities needed for work readiness in a changing world.
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Evaluate the qualities of a good leader, and how to manage people and teams.
2. Examine the legal and professional requirements for setting up a private practice/business in their profession and
develop a business case and marketing plan.
3. Explain the scope of practice, duty of care, relevant policies/guidelines and accreditation/registration requirements of their profession
4. Critically appraise various forms of entrepreneurship and its application in Australian and Global contexts.
5. Explore characteristics, mindset and skills of entrepreneurs while demonstrating ethical conduct, and self-reflect
on how this can be applied in their own situation.
