Aims and objectives

This unit prepares students to demonstrate knowledge of designing and developing database systems on cloud infrastructure. Students will undertake the basics of create, read, update and delete of database records. This unit will also discuss basic architecture and potential use cases for the setup of database systems for the collection, analysing and presenting data.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

1. Understand essential database requirements to perform data manipulation
2. Perform create, read, update and delete tasks to data set
3. Analyse requirements and conduct ETL of large datasets in the cloud
4. Determine appropriate database management system type for cloud deployment
5. Use tools to ensure optimization of dynamic datasets
