Prerequisites

BUI10001 BIM Frameworks

Aims and objectives

This unit requires students to thoroughly investigate the policies and procurement contexts of BIM, focusing on managing the collaborative BIM process across the asset lifecycle up to operations, using the ISO 19650 and PAS/BS 1192 BIM standards and state government policies and guidelines.

Emphasis is placed on individual learning, according to professional context, within or outside of the supply chain (i.e. design and construct stakeholders). Based on the details of a real project, the students will apply their learning to produce the applicable documentation to govern the project and learn how these plans are structured and advanced over time.
Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO)

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

1. Apply knowledge of international standards and national guidelines on a built asset project in the context of a workplace.
2. Examine an organisation's existing policies, procedures and other project management documents to identify the interfaces with BIM agreements that will be required and the potential for their integration.
3. Research specifically on areas of opportunity and risk in implementation in relation to a workplace, its workforce capability, and operating market sectors current and future.
4. Develop comprehensive workplace documentation that addresses the appropriate parts of the ISO/PAS/BS standards for BIM, such as guidance and templates, based on workplace research.
