In this degree’s Industry Consulting Project (BUS30032), one of our industry partners will put forward a real problem. Finding solutions will require you to put what you’ve learned into practice. You’ll team up with other students to analyse the issue and propose solutions back to your client.
Sustainable Business Practice (BUS30031) teaches you to tackle problems and opportunities with holistic thinking. In this unit, you’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team to find innovative, creative, and practical business solutions, that also consider ethical business practices and sustainability goals.
- Graduates with an Accounting major may be eligible to apply for membership of CPA Australia (CPAA), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
- The Finance major is recognised by the CFA Institute University Affiliation program, ideal if you are interested in pursuing a career as a Chartered Financial Analyst.
- The Financial Planning major* is accredited by FASEA - this is required if you want a career that includes providing financial advice to others.

Course description
This course is delivered through Swinburne Online. Swinburne Online delivers Swinburne University of Technology programs designed to meet the needs of those who are unable to undertake on-campus study. These programs have been specifically designed for online delivery and support.
The Bachelor of Business equips students with the core knowledge and skills essential to business management and operations operate in the twenty first century. Choose from a range of business majors which include:
International students in Australia who hold student visas are required to study full-time and on campus. Courses that are taught entirely online are only available to international students studying outside Australia or those in Australia who are not on a student visa. Online courses are not available to international students in Australia who hold a student visa.
Course structure
- 8 prescribed Bachelor of Business core units (100 credit points)
- 8 units of study from a business discipline Major (100 credit points)
- 8 units of secondary studies (100 credit points) comprising of a second major, minor/s, or electives
- or 16 units for the Accounting and Financial Planning major or the Accounting and Finance major (200 credit points) - students undertaking these two majors will not need to undertake secondary studies.
Students complete no more than 150 credit points (normally 12 units) at Introductory Level (eg: BUS1XXXX). A unit of study can only be counted once. Where units are shared between majors and/or minors, students must choose an approved alternative unit.
Maximum Academic Credit
The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Bachelor of Business is 200 credit points (normally 16 units)

Satisfactory completion of one of the following:
- Swinburne’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 65%, all skills 65%
- minimum IELTS overall band of 6.0 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
- TOEFL iBT (internet-based) minimum score of 75 with a reading band no less than 18 and writing band no less than 20
- Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 50 (no communicative skills less than 50)
- any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency.
