Human Centred Product Development
The Human Centred Product Development is a core program at the Centre for Design Innovation and develops new product innovations in some of the fastest-growing market areas in the world.
Led by Dr Charlie Ranscombe, the Human Centred Product Development program develops human-centred design to innovate and add value in the development of new products in fast growing markets.
This program encompasses a cluster of projects that use user-centred, participatory and co-design methods to engineer and design commercialisable products. The aim is to work directly with industry to promote innovation and maximise organisational capabilities.
Our projects aim to:
develop innovative sensor technologies
discover new methods for data analytics
engineer and design commercially viable products.
Each project is backed by rigorous research and executed by experienced engineers and designers, with the goal of maximising sensor accuracy while advancing data analytics by keeping products affordable.
Development of a smart insole to detect and prevent diabetic foot ulcers.
Smart Cricket Ball
A smart ball measuring complex performance parameters to profile bowlers.
Revolutionising the lighting industry through innovative 3D printed products.
Piezoresistive Sensor Technologies
Study of the accuracy, manufacturing, costs, testing methods, calibration and application of piezoresistive sensors.
Development of an Australian-first skylight to battle Australia’s harshest conditions.
Pioneering the area of smart equipment in sports.
Wheelchair of the Future
Developing the foundations for a smart wheelchair – the first product of its kind.
