Current collaborations and projects

Burnet Institute

A project on HIV transmission has commenced with The Burnet Institute. Together with colleagues at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, we are working on the development of thermal-sensitive hydrogels for peptide and drug delivery.

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

We have ongoing programs in improving adherence to medications with the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

International Society of Hypertension

In collaboration with the International Society of Hypertension, the institute has been involved in facilitating May Measurement Month, an international initiative in screening blood pressure across Swinburne’s campuses.

Successful partnered projects 

 

External partners: Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV)
A digital prototype addressing loneliness in older adults.

An interdisciplinary psychology and human-computer interaction (HCI) approach generated solutions to optimize content engagement, leading to real life outcomes in establishing positive and meaningful relationships (e.g., gamification or safe digital spaces).

 

External partners: Stryker, St Vincent’s HospitalOPUS Centre for Research Excellence Total Joint Replacement
Flipping high-risk healthcare: A design-led service blueprint for surgical pathways.

This partnership combined Stryker’s expertise in performance solutions, the Melbourne Design Factory’s process engineering expertise and the St. Vincent’s/University of Melbourne Department of Surgery team’s clinical and academic expertise to map the processes and stakeholder experiences for knee and hip replacement surgery.
