Swinburne has ranked in the top 176-200 in Engineering and Technology in the 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject, improving on its top 250 position from 2019.

Swinburne’s commitment to creating social and economic impact has seen the university consistently rise in international rankings and receive global recognition for its world-class research and education.

“The World University Rankings have placed our core disciplines in Engineering and Technology among the best two percent in the world,” says Swinburne’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Development), Professor Aleksander Subic.

Swinburne was also ranked by Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020 by subject in the areas of:

Notably, Swinburne’s Computer Science ranking improved from 301-400 the previous year.

In September, Swinburne placed in the top 400 of the world’s best universities in the 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, positioning Swinburne in the top three per cent of universities worldwide.
