Swinburne University of Technology has partnered with TechnologyOne to further enhance the student experience with plans to revolutionise the enrolment process through cloud technologies. 

Aligned with Swinburne’s vision to bring people and technology together to build a better world, the continued partnership with TechnologyOne will provide students with an integrated cloud-based admissions experience, ensuring a seamless transition to university life. The system will enhance the student experience by empowering student to self-manage their admissions and enrolments anywhere, any time and on any device they chose.

Swinburne will co-design the bespoke system with TechnologyOne and will move the university’s student management system from on-premises to cloud-based technology. Utilising the latest technology and user insights, the system will simplify and improve processes to allow more time to support students in their transition to university.

Speaking of the partnership, Swinburne’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education, Experience and Employability, Professor Sarah Maddison said that this partnership was all about improving the student experience.  

‘Starting your university life is such an important part of a students’ experience. The new Student Portal offered by TechnologyOne will ensure that the admission and enrolment experience for our students is seamless, accessible and easy to use, so that the start to uni is a stress-free one,’ Professor Maddison said. 

‘This partnership with TechnologyOne is the next step in our education experience journey for our students. The technology helps puts the student at the centre, enabling students to self-manage their enrolment in a few simple steps, anytime from any device. This will then leave our students to focus on the important things, like learning and engaging in the wide range of experiences that uni life offers,’ she said. 

Nancy Collins, Swinburne’s Chief Operating Officer said the solution offered by TechnologyOne will ensure that Swinburne continues to deliver on its brand promise by adopting leading edge technologies that are next gen_now, adding incremental value that will enhance the user experience. 

‘As a university of technology, we remain committed to co-designing and delivering technology solutions that leverage our expertise and deliver a superior user experience’. Mrs Collins said.  

‘The move of this key application to the cloud is another part of the university’s continued adoption of an enhanced digital first operating model, and the next generation of hybrid operations that is happening now,’ she said. 

TechnologyOne’s Chief Executive Officer Ed Chung, said the company was pleased to build on its ongoing relationship with Swinburne.

‘As an Australian software company, it means a lot to have a technology leader like Swinburne choose our solution for its student management system. We think it’s the right time to make the transition from on-premise to a modern, integrated SaaS-based platform like OneEducation.’

‘Our software is used by more than 60 percent of the vocational and higher education institutions in Australia and New Zealand and more than 1.4 million students. Each year we invest more than 20 percent of our revenue into R&D to drive innovation,’ Mr Chung said. 

Swinburne will commence the next stages of the Enrolment Modernisation Program with TechnologyOne, with implementation to commence mid-2022. 

‘We know that most students want to be able to self-manage their own enrolment and administrative experience online, which the new Student Portal will provide,’ Professor Maddison said.
