Swinburne’s Jacqueline Savage named finalist in Telstra awards

Swinburne graduate Jacqueline Savage has been named a finalist in this year’s Victorian Telstra Business Women’s Awards.

Ms Savage has been shortlisted in two categories: Victorian Entrepreneur Award and Victorian Young Business Women’s Award.

Her start-up medical device company MedCorp Technologies develops wearable technologies for the healthcare industry.

Ms Savage has a Bachelor of Engineering (Product Design) (Honours) from Swinburne, specialising in biomedical technologies.

While completing her studies, she worked for Melbourne-based engineering design consultancy Outerspace Design, where she further developed her medical product design skills.

In 2014, Ms Savage joined the team at Ronstan International, an industry leader in manufacturing. There she learnt what it took to design, manufacture and distribute products internationally.

In 2015, Ms Savage decided to dedicate herself to her start-up. She has now brought her business to Swinburne’s Innovation Precinct and is working in the Factory of the Future to hone her device. She also lectures in Product Design Engineering.

Since graduating in 2013, Ms Savage has received numerous acknowledgements, including the BioMelbourne Network’s 2016 Emerging Women in Leadership Award.

Winners of the 2016 Telstra Victorian Business Women’s Awards will be announced on Tuesday 18 October.

State and Territory category winners will gather in Melbourne for the National Awards on Wednesday 16 November 2016.
