Swinburne supports new knowledge and innovation hub

Swinburne University of Technology was proud to be part of the launch of the new Centre for Regional Knowledge and Innovation.
The Centre forms part of Maroondah City Council’s new $24 million state-of-the-art facility, Realm, which has been established in conjunction with the Australian Government to engage with the community, businesses and young people in Melbourne’s East.
The launch was attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon Julie Bishop, and Deputy Premier of Victoria, Hon James Merlino.
As part of the launch, there were several exciting Swinburne projects on display, including the Swinburne Software Innovation Lab’s software platform for drones. Swinburne also ran workshops on innovation and leadership throughout the day.
Days after the launch, The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull, Prime Minister of Australia was given a tour of the facility and stopped by to see Swinburne’s innovation workshop run by Dr Noordin Shehabuddeen.
The Centre for Regional Knowledge and Innovation will operate alongside a library, a Council customer service centre, and a contemporary curated arts space.
The facility is located within the new Ringwood Town Square, opposite Ringwood Station.
