Experience an exciting two-week adventure at our partner university, Central China Normal University (CCNU), in the dynamic city of Wuhan! Spend your winter break discovering the future of Artificial Intelligence while immersing yourself in authentic Chinese culture. 

This program blends the latest in Artificial Intelligence with rich cultural experiences. Learn from leading scholars, collaborate on a hands‑on mini project, and explore one of China’s most exciting tech hubs- all taught in English.

Course offered

Artificial Intelligence in Education

The first part of this program features lectures and hands-on project work guided by academic experts in the field of AI in Education. Participants will also take part in IT company visits or laboratory tours, gaining first-hand exposure to real-world applications and cutting-edge research.

Under the guidance of instructors experienced in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, students will develop a basic foundation in the Chinese language while engaging in a variety of cultural activities in the second part of this course. In addition, students will participate in field trips and cultural tours throughout the summer school, offering deeper insights into China’s history, society, andcontemporary development.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for this program, students must:

  • be enrolled into an Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree
  • must be between the age of 18-35 
  • meet the overseas exchange program eligibility requirements
  • Students with science or engineering backgrounds are preferred, especially those with a basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence
     

Academic credit

You'll earn 2 credits from completing this course.

You are able to take this program as credit for one of your elective units. Alternatively, you may be able to use a core unit for this program, subject to approval from your Course Director.

Credit equivalence

2 credits at CCNU = 12.5 CP (1 unit) at Swinburne

Costs

Program cost: No program cost (TBC)

There is no program cost to CCNU for Swinburne students. The partner university will cover the following fees:

  • Accommodation
  • Some meals
  • Application fee
  • Aiport pick up service

Note: Tuition fees to the host university are waived for students completing a short-term exchange program at one of our partner universities. You will continue to pay your regular tuition fees to Swinburne while you are on the program.

There may be other program costs incurred outside of tuition fees, including living expenses, airfares, and visas (if applicable). Program costs are accurate as of the latest website update and may be subject to change.

CCNU will organise accommodation for students.

About Wuhan

Wuhan City (hereinafter referred to as “Wuhan”), also known as the “City of Rivers”, is located in the central China, in the east part of Hubei Province, at the confluence of the Yangtze River and Han Rivers. Cheung Kong Travel Grants

This program has A$3,000 Cheung Kong Travel Grants available for eligible students.

The Destination Australia Cheung Kong Exchange Program (DACKEP) offer scholarship opportunities for eligible outbound Australian students to studying in select Asian countries. This grant can help offset travel and living expenses for your overseas exchange and students can apply for a grant as part of the application process.

OS-HELP Loan

Eligible Australian students can also apply for an Australian Government OS-HELP Loan of up to A$10,130 (for study within Asia) to help cover costs associated with your overseas program.

Application

Students must first apply to Swinburne Abroad following the short-term exchange application process. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis.
