2023 will go down as the year that the conversation about the impact of AI on society took centre stage. Have humans lost control? Should we pause AI research to figure out what the dangers are? At the same time, efforts are being focused to maximise the benefits of AI. In March this year, Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO, announced the establishment of their National AI Centre to co-ordinate ‘Australia's expertise and capabilities for a strong, collaborative and focused AI ecosystem that benefits all Australians’ and published Implementing Australia's AI Ethics Principles report - CSIRO

Guest Speaker
Rita Arrigo who has recently moved into the new role of Strategic Engagement Manager at CSIRO National AI Centre, has a unique perspective on the intersection of technology and society, with expertise in AI, innovation, and digital technology. In her new role she is focused on building a Responsible AI Network (RAIN). This is a world-first cross-ecosystem collaboration aimed at establishing and sharing the best practice of responsible AI in the commercial sector.
Rita’s previous roles include Deputy Director for the Centre of Industrial AI Research and Innovation (CIAIRI) at RMIT, and Chief Digital Advisor at Microsoft. Rita holds a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering and Computing from Monash University as well as qualifications in Marketing (Monash University), Artificial Intelligence (Microsoft INSEAD AI Business School), Design Thinking (Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford), and Design Thinking Essentials (Luma Institute).

Neurodiversity presents unique challenges in terms of responsivity for justice involved youth. Give the prevalence of neurodiverse presentations in young people who are in contact with the justice system for a range or problematic behaviours, this workshop aims to ensure that participants can understand and approach their work with neurodiverse young people in an effective way.
