This unit of study aims to cover the skills and knowledge required to set up an optimised engineering system and produce a product using intelligent technologies and Product lifecycle management principles, taking into account the social impact and possible entrepreneurial opportunities.

Unit learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Discuss the potential technological, organisational and social impact of optimizing system processes
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for process improvement, virtual prototyping and communication for disruption.
- Apply creative thinking methodologies to design a smart solution
- Apply product stewardship principles in the development of a sustainable solution
