Study structure

Successful completion of the Bachelor of Business Analytics/ Bachelor of Business requires students to complete units of study to the value of 400 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.

  • Full-time study: 100 credit points/eight standard units of study per year
  • Part-time study: 50 credit points/four standard units of study per year
  • One credit point is equivalent to one hour of study per week per semester (including contact hours and private study)

On successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Bachelor of Business Analytics

  • Apply and integrate knowledge and principles applicable to business, business analytics, process analysis, and technology driven solutions to inform and improve practice in a range of industry contexts

Career opportunities

Graduates of the Bachelor of Business Analytics/Bachelor of Business program can pursue careers as business analysts, management consultants, market researchers, project managers, and data analysts. They might also work as financial analysts, operations managers, marketing managers, or business development managers. Additionally, their dual expertise prepares them for roles such as strategy consultants, business intelligence analysts, and product managers, where they can integrate business acumen with analytical insights  to drive organisational succes

Professional recognition

The  Bachelor of Business Analytics is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) at the professional level.

The Bachelor of Business (with a Finance Major) is recognised under the CFA Institute Affiliated University and covers at least 70% of topics contained within the Level I CFA program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) topics including CFA Institute Codes of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

Course rules

To qualify for the Bachelor of Business Analytics / Bachelor of Business students must complete 400 credit points as follows:

  • Six [6] Business Analytics core units (75 credit points) AND
  • Four (4) Business Fundamentals core units of study (50 credit points) AND
  • Three (3) Business Practice core units of study (37.5 credit points) AND
  • Eight (8) units of study from a Business Analytics discipline major (100 credit points) AND
  • Eight to Nine (8 to 9) units of study from a Business discipline major (100 to 112.5 credit points) AND
  • Two to Three (2 to 3) elective units (25 to 37.5 credit points)

Students may not complete more than 150 credit points (normally 12 units) at Introductory Level. A unit of study can only be counted once, where units are shared between majors and/or minors, students must choose an approved alternate.

Domestic students also have an opportunity to undertake a WIL Professional Placement. This option is not available to International Students.

Professional placements

Professional Placements are subject to a competitive selection process. Students who undertake a 12-month professional placement are subject to the following course rules and must complete 500 credit points comprising:

  • Three (3) Business Practice core units of study (37.5 credit points) AND

Volume of Learning

The Bachelor of Business Analytics / Bachelor of Business consists 400 credit points. A standard annual full-time load comprises eight (8) units (100cp), and a standard annual part-time load comprises four (4) units (50cp).

For students who complete a Professional Placement the Bachelor of Business Analytics / Bachelor of Business consists of 450-500 credit points. Units normally carry 12.5 credit points. A standard annual full-time student load 

comprises 100 credit points, and a standard part-time load comprises 50 credit points. 

The volume of learning of the Bachelor of Business Analytics / Bachelor of Business with a 6 month placement is typically 4.5 years. 

The volume of learning of the Bachelor of Business Analytics / Bachelor of Business with a 12 month placement is typically 5 years.

Maximum Academic Credit

The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Bachelor of Business Analytics / Bachelor of Business is 200 credit points (normally 16 units), 100 credit points maximum from each discipline.
