For several years, Wyndham City Council has worked with Swinburne Edge to design and deliver a comprehensive Project Mangement program to transform capabilities across their organisation. Wyndham City Council is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia. Their investment in professional development is a key to their impressive growth.

Providing both accredited and non-accredited training, Swinburne Edge delivered learning and development solutions that have significantly improved the project management capabilities of Wyndham’s City Council’s workforce. Throughout the program, Swinburne Edge met and exceeded the council’s KPIs, including a satisfaction rate of over 90% from participants.

The solution

The partnership commenced with a contextualised version of Swinburne Edge’s Diploma of Project Management for council members who lead projects. Wyndham City Council’s tailor-made accelerated qualification is focused on:

  • maximising productivity

  • strategic thinking

  • the technical skills needed to lead a project from start to finish.

Next, Swinburne Edge delivered the Certificate IV in Project Management Practice for those tasked with working on projects. This qualification taught team members how to:

  • engage with stakeholders

  • understand project life cycles

  • comprehend the importance of timelines, quality and budget.

Swinburne Edge also delivered its popular Project Management Fundamentals short course as an introductory level program for staff involved in managing of small to medium size projects. This two-day course is focused on the core terminology, structures and tools of project management.

  • “The facilitator was very patient and kind. Even when I felt confused at times, he was incredibly supportive and took things right back to make sure I could wrap my head around things.”

    COURSE PARTICIPANT

Swinburne Edge’s latest collaboration with Wyndham City Council involved another customised solution – this time, designing and delivering a session reinforcing the link between a project’s financial performance and project management process. The session provided a platform for open dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving, ensuring that all stakeholders understood their roles and how their actions impacted both the success of the project and financial outcomes.

The results

The long-lasting partnership has delivered consistently outstanding participant satisfaction results. Wyndham City Council Project Analyst Julie Dollery says, “By fostering a unified approach and shared terminology within our Project Management Community, we have increased our efficiency and delivered higher quality outcomes.”

  • "The collaborative partnership established between the Swinburne Edge team at Wyndham City Council has significantly enhanced our project management capabilities. Their support has allowed us to grow and develop far beyond what we could have achieved on our own."
