Ethics
Swinburne researchers are committed to the highest ethical, professional and scholarly standards. At Swinburne, our research conforms to the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research. These standards promote ethically sound research, which includes demonstrating respect for the rights and interests of research participants and the community. They also include a commitment to the humane care and use of animals for scientific purposes and responsible biosafety practices. Researchers must submit a proposal to the relevant ethics or biosafety committee before they can proceed with their research project. A proposal will only be approved if it meets the requirements of the code and any other external or internal standards. The project must then be conducted within the terms of the approval; any deviations must be submitted for timely ethical review as appropriate.
