Pio and Marisa Iovenitti Memorial Engineering Excellence Scholarship 2026

This scholarship has been established in memory of the late Associate Professor Pio Iovenitti and his late wife, Marisa Iovenitti, by his family and former colleagues to honour Pio’s remarkable work and enduring legacy.

Pio was an important part of the Swinburne community for over 30 years, particularly within the Faculty of Engineering. During his time at Swinburne, Pio exemplified the values of the University. Hardworking, trusted and collegiate, Pio was an effective leader, a team player and a trusted mentor who was admired dearly by his students and peers, combining the qualities of humbleness, hard work, dedication and scholarship.

Marisa’s unwavering and loving support was instrumental in enabling Pio to achieve so much throughout his career.

This scholarship supports a postgraduate student studying in their final year of a Master of Engineering Science degree in any specialisation.

It is valued at $10,000 for one year.

Eligibility / selection criteria

To be eligible for the Pio Iovenitti Engineering Excellence Scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Meet the following criteria:
    • Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or International student 
  2. Meet the following enrolment criteria:
    • be a continuing second year, postgraduate Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2026
    • be enrolled full-time in an eligible course (see courses eligible in section above)
    • have completed 100 credit points and achieved a minimum credit average from first year of the master's program
    • studying on-campus
  3. Submit a personal statement of up to 500 words addressing:
    • your interest for a career in engineering
    • how this scholarship would assist you to achieve your goals
  4. Provide an Academic Transcript of your first year of Master of Engineering Science degree

Value

The scholarship is valued at $10,000 for one year only, paid bi-annually.
